Anyone can run a two-day workshop and hand out a certificate. A state licence means the curriculum, the hours, the refund policy and the instructor are all on file with the state, and it is what makes the tuition eligible for workforce funding.
Pretty In Ink is a state-licensed academy in Nevada. That is what makes the program fundable, and it is the difference between a certificate and a weekend workshop.
Class size is capped at five to one. On a course where the entire point is someone watching your hands, that number is the course.
Eight practical hours are spent working on real models under supervision, on top of twelve lab hours. You leave having done the thing, not having read about it.
Licensing, health permits, insurance, pricing, marketing and record-keeping are their own graded modules. Most artists who fail, fail at this half.
Pretty In Ink Brow Academy is an approved training provider recognized by the State of Nevada for eligible workforce funding programs, which can cover part or even all of tuition for qualifying students.
Graduates can rent a booth on site at a considerably lower rate than they would find elsewhere, so there is somewhere to actually start. Clients and job placement are not guaranteed.

A comprehensive introduction to the foundational techniques of permanent makeup. The basics of microblading, eyeliner and lip blushing, focusing on fundamental skills and safety practices, through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on training.
The art of eyebrow shaping and design: waxing, threading and tweezing to create the right brow shape for different face shapes, plus brow mapping, colour matching and filling techniques to enhance the natural brow. The largest single module in the program.
Mastering winged eyeliner. Eyeliner shape selection based on eye shape, classic and modern wing styles, and troubleshooting the application problems that come up most often.
Enhancing lips through subtle, natural-looking colour. Colour selection, lip shape enhancement and blending methods, built on lip anatomy and symmetry so enhancements can be customised per client.
Infection control, sanitation and sterilization specific to the beauty industry: personal protective equipment, correct disposal of waste, prevention of cross-contamination, and handling hazardous materials to industry standards.
The structure and function of the skin: its layers, skin types, skin conditions, and how skin reacts to cosmetic procedures. Why skin health decides whether a permanent makeup result holds.
Colour wheel relationships, colour mixing and colour selection for different skin tones. Hue, saturation and value, colour correction, and how to predict the colour a pigment will heal to.
The health and safety regulations that actually govern practising in Washoe County: facility requirements, sanitation and sterilization, waste disposal, and how to obtain and maintain a health permit.
Licensing and regulatory requirements for operating a permanent makeup business: business registration, tax obligations and the insurance the beauty industry specifically requires.
Branding, advertising and social media marketing for a beauty business, plus client relationship management, pricing strategy, consultations, record-keeping and professional ethics.
Hands-on work on live models under instructor supervision. Technique, client communication and sanitation in real conditions. These are the hours that turn everything above into something you can charge for.

2,900 square feet at 845 Aitken St in Reno: classroom space, a practical training area, post-graduation rental booths, reception and salon suites.

The 6 Day Hands-On Deluxe Course is $5,500 in total: a $1,000 deposit that holds your seat and covers your supplies, then $4,500 due before or on the first day of training. The deposit goes towards the final price, and qualifying students may be able to have some or all of the tuition covered by career training funding.
Pretty In Ink Brow Academy is not accredited, and there is no accrediting body for permanent makeup in Nevada. What the academy does hold is a state licence to operate as a school. It was the first permanent makeup academy in Nevada to get one, which means the curriculum, the hours, the instructors and the refund policy are all on file with the state, and it is what makes the tuition eligible for career training funding. In practice that licence is the meaningful credential in this industry: most permanent makeup training is a weekend workshop with a printed certificate and nothing behind it.

Sixty hours across six days: 40 classroom hours, 12 lab hours and 8 practical hours on live models, split across ten graded modules plus practical training.
No prior experience is required. You must be 18 or over at the time of enrollment, provide a valid ID, and hold a current Bloodborne Pathogen Certificate. Credit for previous training and education is not accepted, so everyone starts from the same place.
A certificate of completion, plus twenty hours of post-graduation support and the option to rent a booth on site to start building clientele. The academy does not guarantee clients or job placement.
