It is a tint, not a lipstick
Lip blushing implants sheer pigment throughout the whole lip, building colour in translucent layers rather than laying down an opaque block. The point is to correct what age and sun have taken: lost definition at the border, uneven tone, a lip that has gradually gone paler than the rest of your face. What it leaves you with reads as natural pigmentation. Nobody should be able to tell you have had it done; they should just think you look well.
Colour selection is the whole game
Your natural lip tone dictates everything. Pigment is chosen to work with your existing undertone rather than to override it, because fighting a cool lip with a warm pigment produces a muddy heal every time. Deeper natural lip tones need warmer, more saturated choices to show up at all. Expect to look at several options on your skin before committing, and expect the fresh result to look far more vivid than the healed one.
Healing is more involved than brows, so plan for it
Lips swell. Expect significant swelling for the first 24 to 48 hours, intense colour for three to four days, then a full peel between days four and seven where the colour appears to vanish almost entirely. It comes back. True healed colour surfaces around week three to four, roughly half the intensity of day one. Keep lips balmed constantly, skip spicy and acidic food for a few days, and use a straw.
One important medical note
Any lip procedure can reactivate dormant cold sores. If you have ever had one, even once, years ago, you need antiviral medication from your doctor starting the day before your appointment and continuing for several days after. This is not optional and it is not a formality; an outbreak during healing will cost you both the result and the comfort of that week.

It creates the impression of fullness by restoring definition at the border and adding colour, but it adds no volume. It is pigment, not filler.
Typically two to four years. Lips exfoliate quickly, so a refresh every couple of years keeps it looking intentional.
Lips are more sensitive than brows and clients feel this one more, though topical numbing works particularly well on lip tissue and is topped up throughout. Allow two and a half hours, most of which is mapping, colour-matching and letting the numbing work rather than time under the needle.
