Why volume is lighter than it looks
A volume fan is built from between three and eight extensions so fine that the whole fan weighs less than one classic extension. That is the trick: you get dramatically more visible density while putting less load on each natural lash than a classic set does. Applied correctly, with one fan per natural lash and no lashes glued together, volume is gentler on your natural lashes than a heavy classic set.
What a full set appointment involves
You lie down with your eyes closed while each fan is made and placed individually under magnification. It takes as long as it takes, and this is not a service that benefits from being rushed. Curl, length and thickness are chosen against your natural lash strength and eye shape; the mapping is what makes a set look designed rather than generic.
Keeping a set alive
Natural lashes shed on their own cycle and take their extension with them, so a set needs filling every two to three weeks to stay full. Brush them daily, cleanse them with a lash-safe foaming cleanser, and keep oil-based products away from the lash line. Oil is what breaks down adhesive and is the single most common reason a set does not last.

Not when applied correctly. Damage comes from fans that are too heavy for the natural lash, or from extensions glued across several lashes, which prevents natural shedding.
